“The message is simple, yet it gets forgotten. The people living with the condition are the experts.”
- Michael J. Fox

A Brief Bio
Hey folks, I’m Sam. I’m a 26 year old disabled artist whose art is as brightly coloured as it is likely to feature swear words - which is to say, very. I dabble in many different mediums and subjects depending on my inspiration. I’m known for my prolific ghost painting output, pop culture portraits, and vibrant (yet profane) abstracts. I’m beginning the occasional foray into comics which address more personal topics like gender and disability. This needn’t be said, but just in case, I despise AI of any form. When I’m not creating art you can find me knitting, taking care of the forest worth of plants in my home, spending time with my two dogs Molly and Luna, and sleeping. One of the few perks of being disabled is my dogs and I being on the same nap schedule :) I’m pictured here wearing a t-shirt that I knit for myself on the world’s smallest knitting needles.
“Canadian Artist”
As a Canadian artist in “Vancouver” I am living and working on the unceded (stolen) lands of the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7me Úxwumixw (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. Click Here to learn whose native land you are on.
Interested in learning about indigenous art? One of my favourite series is Stuff the British Stole, which you can watch for free on the CBC gem app. It explores the impacts that a stolen object can have on a culture, they ways people can band together to fight against imperialism and colonialism, and the importance of repatriation.
